November 2007 NILUG Meeting

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

The November meeting of the North Idaho Linux Users Group will be held on Saturday, 10 November, 2007 at noon at the normal meeting location, Frank Ten Thy’s house in Coeur d’Alene. We welcome anyone who has an interest in Linux or any other open source software. We are happy to answer questions from newbies, and to share our knowledge of Linux with others.

We are also interested in hearing about your experiences with different Linux distributions, and your reasons for abandoning that other proprietary operating system.

NILUG has no rules, no mandatory participation and demands no tribute from its members. If you have an interest in Linux, and show up at a meeting, you are considered to be a member. We hope to see you at the next meeting.

Post October Meeting

We had a very good NILUG meeting on Saturday. With the change of meeting location and the urging of a new member, there were at least a dozen new faces at the meeting. Many of them were amateur radio folks who wanted to install Linux on their machines to take advantage of the available programs. We made copies of several Linux distros so these folks could investigate Linux on their own.

If all these new folks attend again, it looks like we may have outgrown our current meeting place and may have to find another place to meet.

Yes, we are having an October meeting!

One of our members has kindly arranged to make his church in Post Falls available for our October NILUG meeting. The meeting will take place on Saturday, October 13, 2007 at the River of Life Friends Church in Post Falls, ID. Meeting time will be the usual noon until whenever we finish. Everyone is invited to attend. As a matter of fact, this might be a good time to do some installs, so bring your computers.

Here is a map to the location:
