What is NILUG?

Monday, August 22nd, 2005

The North Idaho Linux Users Group was started in 1999 by Bill Rishsew, an instructor at the North Idaho College Work Force Training Center and North Idaho College. Until January of 2001, the meetings were held at the Work Force Training Center. Our meetings are now held at various locations, which are shown in the Meeting Info page.

The early meeetings of NILUG were mostly Install Fests and question answering sessions, since not many of us were too familiar with Linux. Meetings are now more structured, with a question and answer period and a main topic period. Install Fests are now held on a less general basis.

The goal of NILUG is to promote the growth of Linux users, answer questions about Linux and help users with problems they encounter using Linux.
